Data Deletion Policy

You own your data. If you want it deleted, we will delete it — completely and promptly. Here is exactly how to do it and what happens when you do.

How to request deletion

You have two ways to delete your data:

Delete from within the app

Open Smaraan → Tap your profile icon → Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and all associated data immediately.

Send us an email

Write to [email protected] with the subject line "Delete My Account" and the email address associated with your Smaraan account. We will process the request within 7 working days and confirm via email once complete.

What gets deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:

Your name and email address
Your prayer streak and practice history
Your app preferences — deity, language, notification settings
Your subscription records (billing history remains with Google Play per their policy)
Any analytics data linked to your user ID

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Your streak and progress cannot be recovered after deletion.

Deletion timeline

Immediately

Your account is deactivated. You can no longer log in.

Within 7 days

Your personal data (name, email, streak, preferences) is permanently deleted from our Firebase and Supabase databases.

Within 30 days

Anonymised analytics data (with no link to your identity) is removed from Mixpanel.

Up to 90 days

Backup copies of databases are rotated and overwritten. No personally identifiable information persists beyond 90 days.

What we cannot delete

Some data is held by third-party services under their own policies:

Google Play billing records — Google retains transaction history per their financial record requirements. We cannot instruct Google to delete this.
Legal obligation data — if we are legally required to retain certain records, we will retain only the minimum required and for no longer than required by law.

Cancelling your subscription without deleting your account

If you only want to cancel your Premium subscription without deleting your account, you can do so directly through the Google Play subscriptions page. Your account and prayer history will remain intact. You will move to the free tier at the end of your current billing period.

Cancelling a subscription does not delete your data. To delete your data, follow the steps above.
